President Huntsman? Impossible With the Current GOP

If Republicans were smart, they'd nominate Jon Huntsman to go up against Barack Obama in 2012. The majority of Huntsman's values are conservative, however he has had liberal...I mean common sense views on global warming and evolution. Not to mention his power and work as a U.S. Ambassador to China.

Huntsman recently said he would call on the wealthy to "sacrifice".

"As president, I wouldnt hesitate to call on a sacrifice from all of our people, even those at the very highest end of the income spectrum,” Huntsman said.

The reason the GOP would be wise to put Huntsman up against Obama, is because Huntsman could possibly win over disappointed, centrist democrats as well as the undecided independents. The average undecided American voter isn't going to vote for someone who is bulldozing and then expanding their $12 million dollar beach house, or someone who is promising to lower gas prices below $2 a gallon. These average undecided American voters don't want a candidate whose sole focus is restricting abortions or banning the construction and support of Muslim Mosques. They are looking to vote for a candidate who has common sense and is down to earth. If the Republican Party puts up a candidate that doesn't hold such common sense values and is making "out-of-this-world" promises, then those average undecided American voters will vote for Barack Obama who is down to earth and has an agenda that is not batshit crazy. Those frustrated liberals and centrist democrats will also support Obama, knowing that the alternative will destroy this wonderful country of ours.

Romney Real Estate

I find it very odd that the Romney family plans bulldoze and then expand their $12,000,000 La Jolla, CA beach house, in a time when millions of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Romney NEEDS to win over independent votes to succeed in taking over the White House in 2012. Many on the right are like Romney and have multi-million dollar mansions from coast to coast. He'll get their votes. However, the majority of independents are looking for a candidate that is somewhat "like" the average person in America, not someone who is rebuilding mansions. They want someone who understands them and the problems they're going through.
* It also is important to note that Mr. Romney may be worth up to a quarter of a billion dollars.

Remember in the 2008 election when it was revealed that John McCain had somewhere between four and seven houses around the country?! That turned a lot of independent voters away from McCain, because so many Americans were hurting around the country.

The Romney's own multiple properties around the country. They can. They have the money. However, they may want to wait until after the election to expand and transform their beachfront mansion from 3,009-square-feet to 11,062-square-feet.

Actually, no....go ahead and expand. Make sure you let everyone know how rich your family is. Especially the undecided independent votes.

More Hollywood Love for Obama

Hollywood is just beginning to open their wallets for President Obama's reelection.

Politico:

“This is a pretty good looking crowd,” Obama said at a New York fundraiser Thursday night.

When the guest list includes names like Gwyneth Paltrow, her husband Chris Martin, Jimmy Fallon, Vera Wang, Anna Wintour and Alicia Keys, the president could be accused of understatement.

Hundreds of people packed the streets of the West Village and police marksmen stood on rooftops as Obama arrived at the residence of media mogul Harvey Weinstein, according to pool reports.

The president addressed about 50 guests who sat in tables of ten. Tickets were $35,800 according to a Democratic official, with the first $5000 of each ticket going to the Obama Victory Fund and the rest to the DNC. The president earlier had addressed a small, separate gathering of 15 at the Ritz Carlton hotel.

The president spoke on debt, the economy and his reelection campaign, and commented on his own lack of cool factor with the electorate this time around.

“They have still got the Obama poster, it is all frayed. Obama is gray haired, he doesn’t seem as cool,” he said. “In some ways that is a healthy thing. Because in 2012… we realize it is about us.. It is not about my election. One person.”

Maybe he hopes the electorate will judge him by the company he keeps.
